Why appliances are planned first
Every appliance has installation dimensions, a connection type and ventilation needs. If the kitchen is drawn first and the appliance chosen later, you end up with filler panels, extra shelves and sometimes a second delivery date. We collect the appliance list before the design so cabinets fit directly.
Fridge and oven
Built-in fridges need a niche with door hinge and ventilation above and below. Ovens need a niche with a defined height and a socket that is not behind the appliance. We plan both in the drawing and mark the connection points for the electrician.
Dishwasher and sink
The dishwasher needs water inlet, drain and a socket in the neighbouring cabinet, not behind the unit. A sink with a drainer changes the cut-out, so we fix the bowl size before ordering the worktop. Sink and hob cut-outs are made in the factory.
Extractor: ducted or recirculating
Ducted or recirculating decides the space in the wall unit and whether a core hole is needed. For ducted we plan the duct route before ordering, for recirculating the filter access. For head-free hoods we check the distance to the hob and the height of the wall units.
Connections and responsibilities
Water, drainage and high-voltage power are installed by a local specialist. We provide dimensions and positions in the drawing so the work is finished before assembly. What you may connect yourself depends on your country and the appliance type; we flag where specialists are required.
